PATCH TESTS RECOMMENDED.

Patch Test & Allergy Policy.

At Saab Lashes Wellington, your safety is our priority. While allergic reactions to lash extension products are rare, they can happen at any time—even if you have had lash extensions before. The following policy ensures transparency and proper care.

Patch Test Availability

Patch tests are optional but recommended for clients who:

  • Have never had lash extensions before

  • Have experienced sensitivities in the past

  • Have allergies, skin conditions, or concerns

  • Are pregnant or breastfeeding and wish to check for sensitivity

  • Prefer peace of mind before a full set

Patch tests should be booked at least 24–48 hours before your lash appointment.

What Happens During a Patch Test?

A small number of lash extensions are applied to each eye using the same adhesive used during a full set.
This allows us to see if your eyes react to the ingredients.

The test takes approximately 10–15 minutes.

Important Limitations

  • A patch test cannot guarantee you will not develop a reaction in the future.

  • Allergies can develop at any time, even if you previously had no issues.

  • Reactions may occur hours or days after your appointment.

Allergic Reactions

If you experience:

  • Redness

  • Itching

  • Irritation

  • Swelling

  • Burning sensation

Please contact us immediately.

If a reaction occurs, we will provide a free removal within 48 hours.
This is essential to protect your eye health.

Refunds

Because allergic reactions are unpredictable and not caused by poor application:

  • No refunds are issued for allergic reactions

  • Time, product, and service have already been provided

  • A complimentary removal will be offered if needed

This policy is standard across the lash and beauty industry.

Aftercare Responsibilities

Clients must follow aftercare instructions provided during or after the appointment.
Poor aftercare can mimic allergic reactions (e.g., irritation from dirty lashes or rubbing).

Continuing Lash Extensions After a Reaction

If you experience a true allergic reaction, it is not recommended to continue getting lash extensions in the future, as reactions usually worsen over time.

Your Consent

By booking a lash appointment with Saab Lash Studio, you acknowledge:

  • You understand the risk of irritation or allergic reaction

  • You have been offered a patch test

  • You agree to follow aftercare instructions

  • You accept the terms outlined in this policy

Frequently Asked Questions

What are lash extensions?

Lash extensions are individual synthetic fibres applied to your natural lashes to add length, volume and curl. They create a fuller, more defined look without the need for mascara.

What are they made from?

Professional lash extensions are made from PBT (Polybutylene Terephthalate) — a soft, lightweight, cruelty-free synthetic fibre that holds curl and looks natural.

How do lash extensions work?

Each extension is attached to one natural lash using a safe, professional-grade adhesive. This allows your stylist to customise the style, shape and fullness to suit your eyes.

How long do lash extensions last?

Most sets last 4–6 weeks, depending on your natural lash cycle, aftercare and lifestyle. As your natural lashes shed, the extensions shed with them.

How often do I need infills?

Infills are recommended every 2–3 weeks to maintain fullness. You’ll need at least 40-60% of extensions still attached to qualify for an infill.

How do I take care of my lash extensions?

  • Keep lashes dry for the first 24 hours

  • Clean your lashes daily with a lash-safe cleanser

  • Avoid oil-based products around the eyes

  • Brush your lashes gently with a clean spooliebrush

  • Avoid mascara, lash curlers and picking or rubbing your eyes
Good aftercare = better retention and longer-lasting lashes.

Can I get them wet?

Yes — after the first 24 hours. Once cured, the adhesive is water-resistant.

Are lash extensions safe?

Yes, when applied by a trained lash stylist. Your natural lashes are isolated to ensure no sticking, pulling or damage. The lash extension or glue is never placed on the skin. The extension is 1-2mm away from lash line.

Can I have an allergic reaction?

Allergies are rare but possible. Symptoms include redness, itching, swelling or discomfort within 24–48 hours.
If a reaction occurs, the extensions must be removed immediately.

Do lash extensions damage your natural lashes?

No — not when applied correctly and cared for properly. Damage happens only from poor application or picking/pulling the extensions.

How are lash extensions removed?

A professional lash remover cream is applied to dissolve the adhesive safely. Extensions slide off easily without harming your natural lashes.
Never pick or attempt removal at home.

Can I wear makeup with lash extensions?

Yes, but avoid:

  • Mascara

  • Waterproof eyeliner

  • Oil-based makeup or removers
Stick to lash-safe, water-based formulas to protect retention.

What styles can I choose from?

You can choose from:

  • Classic (1:1)

  • Hybrid (mix of classic & volume fans)

  • Volume (3D–6D fans)

  • Wispy or textured looks
Your stylist will recommend what suits your lashes best.

PLEASE HAVE CLEAN NO MAKEUP, NO MASCARA ON YOUR LASHES WHEN YOU ARRIVE FOR SERVICES. WEAR NO OIL BASED CREAMS OR MAKEUP AS THIS WILL TAKE LONGER TO REMOVE.
